The Basic Search looks for Welsh words for which a dictionary entry exists. If you want to look for a Welsh word elsewhere, for example in the dictionary's quotations, usew the Advanced Search instead.
Searches for more than one word will find pages with any of those words; to search for an exact phrase, use quotation marks: "bara gwyn".
The search will find the correct entry even if you enter a mutated form, a plural, or some other variant: searching for "chartref" or "cartrefi" will find the entry cartref.
The Advanced Search allows you to search more than just the dictionary headwords. Use the checkboxes to narrow your search to a specific part of the dictionary, or leave them all blank to look through all of the dictionary content for your search term.
As with the Basic Search, searches for more than one word will find pages with any of those words; to search for an exact phrase, use quotation marks: "bara gwyn".
Advanced search results start with a link to the dictionary entry where your search term was found, and then show a list of keyword-in-context results. These show you the context(s) in which your search term appears on that page.
